We often lament the fact that life has become so hurried and people don't
help each other like they did in "The good old days." Thoughts of barn raising
and quilting bees evoke images of a simpler time when people helped each other
and there was a genuine sense of community. If someone was in trouble or needed
help they were not alone. Friends and neighbors would come to their aid. These
concepts should not just be pleasant memories from another time but
alive and well in the present. Providing baby sitting so young parents can have
a night out. Relining brakes, installing a hot water heater, or doing electrical
repair for someone
struggling financially. Praying with parents of a child in trouble. Taking meals
when someone gets out of the hospital or providing a dinner at the church after
a funeral. These things are done on a regular basis as part of the caring
ministry of the church. When we see our brother or sister in need the love of
Christ compels us to help. These are not just the values of another era but the
result of Christ reigning in our hearts
If this is how you think our community should be.... please join us. |
